Jonathan Isaac: A Unicorn on the Defensive End (Part 2)

Bulls go up 2-0 heading back home

The Bulls stun everybody and go up 2-0 winning at the Garden again. The 8 seeded Bulls, the team which has plagued with turmoil for the entire season look like they are on their way to the 2nd round. The Bulls who finished 41-41 have now won two road games and will be going back home to Chicago. They are a physical, tough ball club. They were never a three-point shooting team, but they stick to their strengths.

Attacking the rim, getting 2nd chance points and with veteran leadership, they have been able to take both road games. The TNT Bulls is no joke, it's no fluke. Some guys just show up and play better when the lights are brightest. Rondo and Wade are those people. The lights are bright in the playoffs and these two vets are ready to go. They might not show up in a February game in Minnesota, but this is the playoffs. They show up when the lights are the brightest. They also have a guy named Jimmy Butler, he's pretty good. They have been working the Celtics on the glass, as they now have a 22 rebounding advantage over the 2 games. The Celtics aren't a great rebounding team, but the Bulls are great. They have been hustling and getting extra possessions. Despite not being a 3-point team, they shot better from the arc and the field, combine that with the rebounding factor it is a recipe for disaster for the Celtics.

Jimmy Butler, the best player in the series, has changed the series. His ability to guard IT, slowing him down, and create has benefited the Bulls immensely. This is an old cliche, but a series can come down to who has the best player. Jimmy Butler can win you this series. He had 22 pts, 8 reb, 8 ast in game 2. He scored timely baskets, winning them the game. Dwayne Wade also added 22 pts. Rondo had a great all around game, and was 1 rebound away from a triple-double. The Bulls supporting cast played better. They were more prepared, more active and the results showed that.

It's not a very favourable match up for the Celtics, as the Bulls expose their weaknesses. It's not looking good for them as they are down 2-0. 97% of teams up 2-0 go on to win the series and they already lost 2 games at home. I know Isaiah suffered a tragedy, but isn't that supposed to bring the team together. Where are the rest of the Celtics, stepping up for Thomas in this tough time. They need to show up. This series is just going to get tougher as they're on the road now and the supporting cast usually does worse on the road. The big men need to show up, and show some heart. Rebounding is effort and the Bulls are out hustling them. Where is Al Horford? He is getting paid I know that, but he ain't delivering. On top of that, Isaiah just does so much for this team so he can't score 20 points and expect a win. This core hasn't won a playoff series, not even a road game. The others need to show up. If I'm betting on someone on this team, its IT. Avery Bradley was a -22, he just needs to play better. The entire team needs to play better, be more energetic and be ready to take the fight to the Bulls in game 3 and 4.

Now this series seems like it's over. The Bulls win 2 road games, but they are the Bulls and they are unpredictable. However, I would be shocked if even the Bulls lose this series. At best the Celtics stretch this out to game 6. The Bulls just have a match-up advantage over them, they have the best player and the momentum. It doesn't look like the supporting cast is going to show up. It might be time to change the roster up a bit, cause they haven't won a series in 2 years. That's a conversation for another day. Feels like the Bulls will advance in at most 6 games.
