Jonathan Isaac: A Unicorn on the Defensive End (Part 2)

Warriors stomp on the Rockets

The Houston Rockets came into this season just attempting to beat the Warriors. They were obsessed with taking down the powerhouse known as the Warriors. Everybody from their GM to coach to the MVP, just wanted to take down the Warriors. The Rockets worked long and hard for 82 games to gain home court.  All that hard work for the Warriors to gain home court in 48 mins. The Warriors were locked in, just ready to end the Rockets. They have heard enough from the Rockets saying it's their time. The Dubs just wanted to come out and prove all the haters wrong. This game did have a deeper meaning.

The Rockets beat the Warriors in the regular season series, but they found out in game one that did not mean nothing. The Warriors won by double digits and were not even clicking on all cylinders.

If you were to say at the stat of the game that:

- James Harden would score 41 points off 24 shots
- James Harden and Chris Paul would outscore Kevin Durant and Steph Curry 64-55
- Both teams make 13 three pointers

You would probably think the Rockets came out on top or it was a close game at least. These stats show that Warriors were not even at their best and beat the Rockets by double digits. Klay was 6-15 (missing wide open shots) from 3. Klay had tons of room on many shots and could have shot much better. They can not leave him alone with no one in his area and hope to miss, he is too good a shooter. Curry was a horrific 1-5 from downtown. The best shooter in NBA history will not have many nights like this. The Rockets should have won this game, if they wanted to compete in this series.

The Rockets defense struggled big time against the ball movement of the Warriors. Their defense was really bad, as the Warriors just kept whipping the ball around the perimeter and moving, setting off ball screens and creating wide open shots. It was too easy for them as they shot over 50% from the field. On top of that they need to better playing iso ball. It created too many fast-break points for the Warriors and it allowed them to get out and run off missed shots and turnovers. They need to better as they do not have a lot of margin of error against this super-team.

They hype and build up, coming into this game was amazing. Finally a team to push the Warriors and challenge them. The first time the Warriors would have to start a series on the road in the Kerr era. Most people thought the Rockets could put up an interesting fight, but they had to take game one. Watching this game was very depressing. It just showed that when the Warriors are at their best, there is no stopping them. If the Rockets can not play up to their level, you know the Celtics or Cavs will not be able to compete. This is just how good the Warriors are, they do not have anyone to push them when they are locked in. They are still the best team in the league and it looks like it's going to be this way for a while. The Warriors are on another level everybody, and I'm afraid we will not get the series we were building up for a year. The Dubs are just that good. I think this series, worst case scenario, is going six to the Warriors but it will probably be over in 5, would not be surprised if a sweep occurred.
