Jonathan Isaac: A Unicorn on the Defensive End (Part 2)

Warriors Take a 2-0 Lead Behind Curry's Historic Night

Coming into Game 2, the Cavs knew they let a very winnable Game 1 slip through their fingertips. All eyes were on Lebron and the Cavs to see if they could put up another fantastic performance on the road and possibly even steal a game. Curry and company had other plans and now the Warriors are just 2 wins away from back to back championships.

The story of Game was the Warriors efficient shooting. As a team they shot 57.1% from the field and were 15-36 from three. Curry

set a new finals record with 9 threes Game 2, equaling the Cavs team total. After a scary knee injury late in the regular season, it seems that Curry is fresher in this year's finals compared to the previous three years and is really starting to find his groove offensively and defensively. Right now, he's the favourite to win the Finals MVP if the Warriors can close out the Cavs. Although Curry had a historic performance, the Warriors had a balanced attack on offense. Five Warriors scored in double digits (Curry with a game high of 33, Durant, Klay, Livingston and JaVale McGee!!). The Cavs have to be disappointed in their defense tonight. I mean its expected that Curry, Durant and Klay will score 20 + a game. They are just that talented on the offensive end. But JaVale McGee dropping 12 points on 6-6 shooting. The two time Shaq'tin a fool MVP putting up double digits and outscoring your starting center (who by the way is making $16 million a year) in the NBA finals is an absolute embarrassment. That is a failure of epic proportions.

On the offensive end, the Cavs actually played decent. Lebron led the way with 29 points (which seems like a disappointment with the level that Lebron has been playing at), Love chipped in with 22 and both George Hill and Tristan Thompson scored in double digits. They had 25 assists and had 52 points in the paint. J.R. Smith however continued his horrendous play scoring just 5 points on 2-9 shooting. Despite this, the Cavs were able to cut the lead to a mere 5 points in the 3rd Quarter and seemed to quiet down the raucaus Warriors fans in the building just like in Game 1. However, once the 4th Quarter started, it was clear that the Cavs had run out of gas. Curry hitting an improbable step back three from way downtown was the nail in the coffin and the Cavs were going home once again down 0-2 in a series.

The Warriors are the deeper and much more talented team and it really showed in Game 2. The Warriors played their brand of basketball, a face paced offensive filled with cuts, threes and a lot of ball movement along with strong team defense to disrupt Lebron James. As the series shifts to Cleveland, expect the Cavs to come out swinging in Game 3. That being said, the Warriors are going to win one game at the Q and come back to Oracle Arena with a chance to win the series and be crowned the 2018 NBA champions. .
